Maths Mastery

Mastering Number in Reception and KS1

At Riverside, we are taking part in a fantastic scheme of learning in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 called Mastering Number.

The project aims to develop good number sense for all children so that they leave KS1 with greater confidence and flexibility in numbers and calculation.

Children focus on key knowledge in Reception with progression through KS1 to support future academic success.

Teaching strategies are focused on developing fluency in calculation and number sense for all children, as well as using appropriate resources to support children’s learning.

 

Maths Mastery in KS2

In Key Stage Two, a key focus for Maths is developing “Maths Mastery”, developed by the Great North Maths Hub.

Mastering maths means students of all ages obtaining a deep, long-term, secure and adaptable understanding of the subject.
